We Begin At the End was tied with Razorblade Tears as top fiction reads for 2021!

I loved so many things about this book. First and foremost, the characters were complex and had so much depth. There were several characters I enjoyed, but Duchess and Walk were definitely my favorites. And even the complexity of Vincent was absolutely amazing; my heart just broke for him while reading.

It’s very impressive when a book that made me cry (i.e., bawl like a baby) also made me laugh out loud several times. Duchess’s one-liners were pure gold and so witty. I wish I was as cool as Duchess. And then I cried so hard for the last 10-15 pages that I could barely see the text, so…I felt ALL the emotions during this book.

We Begin At the End was definitely a “slow burn” read, but it worked so well, and the timing of events was perfect. I didn’t expect the twist(s) at the end, but even if I did, I would love this book just as much. It’s about so much more than solving a crime; it’s about coming to terms with the past and trying to move forward, even when it doesn’t seem possible and like the world has moved on without you.

There are so many more things I could add, but I’ll just end with this—PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!

Thank you so much to Henry Holt Books for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
