As soon as I finished Razorblade Tears, I knew it would be one of my top reads for 2021 (and I was not wrong)!

Y’all, this book was phenomenal! I finished it over a year ago, and I still think about it regularly. And talk about it regularly. Seriously…ask my book club. I’m still shouting S.A. Cosby’s praises from the rooftop in 2023.

Razorblade Tears was such a unique thriller (if we consider it a thriller?). It gave me major Sons of Anarchy and The Last House on the Left vibes (am I the only person who knows what Last House on the Left is?!).

This book had so much depth. I could feel the emotions as I read—the grief, anger, hatred, guilt, and sadness. There were also several places where Ike and Buddy Lee had important discussions, especially about race and the LGBTQ+ community.

I was surprised by how much humor was sprinkled throughout—even with all of his flaws, I thought Buddy Lee was a great character and found myself laughing (read: cackling) at some of his quick comebacks and witty banter with other characters.

Were Ike and Buddy Lee perfect? Far from it, but that’s the point. They were the epitome of “flawed humans” and definitely weren’t the greatest fathers, but they fought to get justice for their sons and try to make up for their shortcomings.

If you haven’t read this one yet, I’m telling you—give it a try!! And if you’ve read it, feel free to comment below or message me on Instagram. I could talk about this book all day/month/year/lifetime long!
