It can be hard to come up with Mother’s Day gift ideas, even if you know them well. My husband asks me what gifts I want for my birthday, Mother’s Day, and Christmas…and most of the time, I don’t have a good answer (except books, obviously).

Since Mother’s Day is coming up, I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to get friends and family. And I know my husband will ask me in the near future. So, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to put together a list of some Mother’s Day gift ideas that the reader(s) in your life will absolutely LOVE!

Gift Idea 1. E-Reader

Yes, I know. An e-reader isn’t a very unique gift idea to some folks. BUT, I think it’s a great gift. I never thought I’d really use one, but I constantly use mine. I have hundreds of books on my e-reader, and they don’t take up any room on my shelves (when I made this argument to my husband, he IMMEDIATELY told me to buy an e-reader)! There are several different brands of e-readers, but my personal preference is the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (pictured above). One note of advice — if you don’t want random book ads on your lock screen (AKA a lot of shirtless men), pay the few dollars extra to purchase the ad-free version!

You can browse Amazon Kindles here.

Gift Idea 2. E-Reader Page Turning Device

I love my e-reader, but there’s nothing worse than having to move your hands out of your warm, comfy blanket every 20 seconds to click the screen and move to the next page. BUT, with this handy, dandy page-turning device, you don’t have to! I recently learned this product existed, and my friend showed me a video of how she uses it. I was immediately sold. Mine is currently in the mail, and I can’t wait to use it. So, I think this is a perfect Mother’s Day gift idea for the e-reader lover in your life!

You can find this device here on Amazon.

Gift Idea 3. Audiobook Subscription

I read A LOT of books, and the most common way I read it through audiobook (yes, audiobooks count as reading). One of the greatest investments I’ve made is my monthly audiobook subscription. I get access to new, incredible audiobooks for a fraction of the price ($15 vs. $25-$50). If you aren’t ready for the monthly membership, you can also purchase books a la carte. There are several audiobook subscription services out there, but I HIGHLY recommend Libro.fm.

Libro.fm supports local, independent bookstores, which I love. I’m able to pick an independent bookstore to sponsor, and for every purchase I make, some of that money supports the local bookstore. How cool is that?! I currently sponsor a bookstore in my city, and it’s awesome!

You can learn more about Libro.fm on their website. To sign up for their monthly subscription, click here.

Gift Idea 4. Book Cart

…because you can never have too much storage for your book collection. I have two book carts–the one above and a matching black one–and they are some of my favorite purchases. Ever.

You can shop for a wide variety of book carts on Amazon and Walmart.

Gift Idea 5. “Bookish” Merch

There is nothing better than showing the world how much you love reading. And what better way to do that than shirts, hats, socks, or other book-related merchandise?! This “booktrovert” sweater was gifted to me a few months ago, and I love it! It’s cute, comfortable, and proudly displays my passion for books and reading. There are SO many places to find cool bookish merchandise – my recommendation is to start on Etsy.com.

You can shop this exact sweater on Etsy, too.
